Palle Rico Hjorth

Born on 2 August 1949 on the island of Bornholm, christened in Copenhagen, and later exported to Funen.

Received drawing instruction at the Funen Academy of Fine Arts in 1966, followed by five years of study in drawing and painting under the guidance of Kaj Kylborg from 1970 to 1975.

Made his debut at the Artists’ Easter Exhibition (Kunstnernes Påskeudstilling) in 1973.

Has been a member of various artists’ groups at different periods.

Since 1992, has been extensively involved in art education at Fyns Kunstskole, where he taught foundation courses and advanced studies in classical drawing, with primary responsibility for painting. Chose to retire from teaching in 2025, partly to devote more time to his own artistic practice.

In recent years, has enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with the Lolland-Falster Exhibition (Lolland-Falster Udstillingen).

Member of the Danish Visual Artists Association (BKF).

Has worked with a variety of themes, including Blind Houses, a series inspired by the former military training area near Oksbøl, incorporating the abandoned villages of Vejers, Grærup and Børsmose.
